بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In The Name of God, The Most Merciful, The Ever-Merciful to His believing servants.

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

  1. Woe to those who (deceptively) give less (than full weight or measure) (in trading goods) (or: fulfilling rights) (or: in acts of worship).

ٱلَّذِينَ إِذَا ٱكْتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ

  1. Those who, when they are to receive (something) by measure from people, demand full measure (or more).

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ

  1. And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ

  1. Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

  1. On a Great Day,

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

  1. The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْفُجَّارِ لَفِى سِجِّينٍ

  1. Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjeen.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ

  1. And what will make you know what Sijjeen is?

كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ

  1. A Register inscribed.

وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ

  1. Woe, that Day, to those who deny ((God, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)).

ٱلَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ

  1. Those who deny the Day of Recompense.

وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ

  1. And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of God, the sinner!)

إِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

  1. When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: “Tales of the ancients!”

كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَكْسِبُونَ

  1. Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.

كَلَّآ إِنَّهُمْ عَن رَّبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَّمَحْجُوبُونَ

  1. Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.

ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

  1. Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell.

ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

  1. Then, it will be said to them: “This is what you used to deny!”

كَلَّآ إِنَّ كِتَٰبَ ٱلْأَبْرَارِ لَفِى عِلِّيِّينَ

  1. Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear God and avoid evil), is (preserved) in Illiyyoon.

وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ

  1. And what will make you know what Illiyyoon is?

كِتَٰبٌ مَّرْقُومٌ

  1. A Register inscribed.

يَشْهَدُهُ ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

  1. To which bear witness those nearest (to God, i.e. the angels).

إِنَّ ٱلْأَبْرَارَ لَفِى نَعِيمٍ

  1. Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear God and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

  1. On thrones, looking (at all things).

تَعْرِفُ فِى وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

  1. You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.

يُسْقَوْنَ مِن رَّحِيقٍ مَّخْتُومٍ

  1. They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.

خِتَٰمُهُۥ مِسْكٌ وَفِى ذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ ٱلْمُتَنَٰفِسُونَ

  1. The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of God).

وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسْنِيمٍ

  1. It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasneem.

عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ

  1. A spring whereof drink those nearest to God.

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ يَضْحَكُونَ

  1. Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ

  1. And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);

وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِينَ

  1. And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;

وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَضَآلُّونَ

  1. And when they saw them, they said: “Verily! These have indeed gone astray!”

وَمَآ أُرْسِلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ حَٰفِظِينَ

  1. But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).

فَٱلْيَوْمَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ

  1. But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers

عَلَى ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ يَنظُرُونَ

  1. On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).

هَلْ ثُوِّبَ ٱلْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ

  1. Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
